Kidney Connect is a free service that helps generate attention for people searching for kidney donors by sending press releases about their stories to journalists in their hometown.

As of August 2024, Kidney Connect is on pause as we look for more capacity to help with the project.

The process is simple:

  1. Fill out this form with information about your story.

  2. Within one week, we’ll send you a draft press release for your approval.

  3. Once you approve, we’ll send the press release to journalists from your hometown and connect you if they’re interested in your story.

Case study

Kim Constantinesco donated her kidney to Jamal Shuriah, a fellow New Yorker, on December 16, 2020. Tragically, the kidney clotted, meaning that Jamal needed another kidney to survive. The odds of this happening were between 0.5% and 1%.

Kim and Jamal worked with Kidney Connect to share their story with news markets in New York and Utah, where Kim is a native. Kidney Connect generated these stories:

Salt Lake Tribute: Kidney donations still needed in a time of pandemic

About

57% of non-directed kidney donors say that they were first inspired toward non-directed kidney donation through media. Yet right now, there are little to no resources for people who need a kidney transplant to pitch their story to journalists on their own.

Kidney Connect hopes to make it as easy as possible for you to share your story with the world — just provide your information with this form, and we’ll handle drafting and sending a press release.
